Why and How E-Commerce Consumer Marketplaces are the Current... "NEW THING"...in USA Metro-Area Hybrid-Selling Online Retailing?

"I have analyzed the potentials for E-Commerce Consumer Marketplaces for 8 years.  These Marketplaces are obsoleting the Corporate-Owned Chain In-Store Selling Model.  The 50 Largest Chain & Online Retailers are closing in on dominating 60% of all US retailing.  This accelerating trend is directly crushing/displacing the existence of the 30 million Local Retail Merchants of Consumer Goods & Services across the USAThe Small and Midsize Merchants create 66% of all US private-sector jobs, that is more than 5-Times more jobs than the Big 50 Retail Chains create for the same dollar amount of consumer retail sales."

The MVM Marketplace design has some similarities to AMAZON Marketplace, yet being that MVM is a Local Area Geo-location type, it differs from AMAZON in that MVM Vendors are locally-based within the MVM Area, and all the Shoppers are typically living within the area also.  There is room for MVM to compete successfully with AMAZON because they focus totally on please customers all over the Globe.   AMAZON Marketplace has created many troubling experiences for legitimate sellers.

"The creation of Multi-Vendor Metro-Wide E-Commerce is as cost-efficient to both MVM Vendors & Shoppers, as most of the Big 50 Chain Stores in their D2C selling models.  Marketplace Enterprises can Design, Develop, Build & Launch Marketplaces in just one year, and apply this Model as a Hybrid In-Store & On-line Selling/Buying Retailing Platform to all types/genres of  merchants/sellers in any of 100 of the  2-Million Population City Metropolitan Areas in the US, that collectively serve 200 million shoppers of the US Urban Population."

"MVM On-Line Retail commerce is designed to create the most frictionless and lowest cost business model to connect Sellers with Buyers and bring the Best Value-Proposition to the 70 million traditional in-Store shoppers and to the 270 million of 2020's on-line retail shoppers in the US now."

"MVM can efficiently offer E-Commerce Consumer Goods & Services in D2C Marketing SEM, PPC, plus use of Big Data Demographics Assessments for Digital CPG and Consumer Services within a Very Large Scale Multi-Vendor Marketplace.  There is Now a Data-Based-Case to go beyond single-vendor independent marketplaces, to an e-commerce enterprise-scale, that operates a large and scalable multi-vendor platform. The MVM Marketplace would offer affordable Agency-Level Fee-Based Digital-Marketing Basic Analytics...SEO, SEM, PPC and KPI Services...Plus more Custom-Level Marketing Support to its Captive-Member-Sellers.

"Metro-Area Multi-Vendor E-Commerce D2C Marketplaces have the lowest entrepreneurial financial risk for "Independent Small Local-Merchant Sellers, and greater upside sales growth & profits potential"...in trying to compete against current fully-online selling platforms likened to Amazon, Walmart Marketplace, Best Buy, Etsy, eBay, Wayfair, and others who have invaded all Metro-Area Retailing Regions Today.

"The following analysis and discussion cover the Big Data Consumer Demographics Facts and the Rational & Economic Data Points that overwhelmingly support the creation of More & Larger Multi-Vendor E-Commerce D2C Marketplaces, within any of the 100 largest Metro-Area Consumer Markets in the US".

"Already...Dozens of Entrepreneurial Visionaries are Starting-Up or Expanding into Multi-Vendor E-Commerce D2C Marketplaces"..."The First-Movers" in new enterprise ideas usually experience the greatest risks-of-loss from uncertainties...Whereas the Second, Third, and Other Movers reach a dominant level of success along a less bumpy start-up road...Likened to Apple in iPhones, DELL in Computing, Walmart in Walmart Marketplace, plus many others."...By Charly Dushek.

Metro-Area E-Commerce D2C Online Marketplaces

The Purposes, Enterprise Strategy, and Functions of a Metro-Area E-Commerce Marketplace is to Serve 500,000 to 2,000,000 Shopper Population Metropolitan-Areas having 10,000 to 40,000 Local Small Business Merchants (SBM) as Sellers of Consumer Goods and Services.  There are 100 Metro-Areas in the US with that scale.

Marketplace Metropolitan-Area Candidate Examples are: Aurora IL, Kansas City, Indianapolis, Nashville, Milwaukee, Louisville, Hartford, Salt Lake, Tucson, Greenville, Albuquerque, Syracuse, Portland, and Chattanooga Metro-Areas.

The Sad Road Ahead for Retailers...UBS Bank Research estimates 75,000 more US retail stores need to close in the U.S, as e-commerce penetration grows in a few years to 25% of retail sales by 2026, from 16% today.  Who Closes?...21,000 Clothing Stores, 10,000 Consumer Electronics Stores, 8,000 Home Furnishing Stores, and 1,000 Home Improvement Stores.  Plus...7,000 Grocery Stores close, as online grocery penetration rises. Store Retailers Takeaway..."Be Online or Be Gone"!

                 Metro-Area E-Commerce Marketplace

The Estimated Annual Seller's Revenue on a Multi-Vendor-Marketplace (MVM) can grow to $500 Million-$2 Billion in On-Line and In-Store Retail Sales Utilizing the Hybrid Selling Model.  A Marketplace can attain a Startup Revenue Scaling from a $100 Million level, by membering to over 5,000 area selling merchants with each averaging only $20,000 Startup Annual Marketplace Sales.

Multi-Vendor- Marketplace (MVM) of Goods & Services

Statistically, 70% of the US general population is doing some shopping online in 2020, which equals 230 million shoppers.  A minimal 2,000,000 population of a Metro-Area would have over 500,000 online shoppers.  To hit the first milestone of $100 Million Marketplace Annualized Sales, each shopper would spend about $285 annualized amount on Marketplace.  The current US Average Annual Online Shopper Spend is $1,800, 6 times more than a Marketplace Milestone.

Marketplace is an entirely digital-technology infrastructure of pre-existing modular selling-technology platforms encompassing Marketplace Hosting Admin Software, Standardized Website Storefronts for Each Vendor with integrated APIs for the special functionalities of each store-type, ie SHOPIFY sites, using Cloud Storage & Computing APIs likened to AWS Services.  Physical infrastructure is only employed utilizing leased Flex-Spaces for Vendor-Storage, Vendor-Selling, Local-Deliveries-Parcels-Sorting , Will-Call-Pickups, Drop-Ships, and Multi-Carrier USPS, UPS & FedEx Pack & Ship Service Desk.

MVM seller fees are about 60% less than what AMAZON charges sellers for the transaction service charges & the fulfillment of delivering its goods to AMAZON shoppers.  MVM is somewhat similar to AMAZON, Walmart Marketplace, Etsy Marketplace, and eBay Marketplace.

Often, it is practical and opportune for the Marketplace Host Enterprise to make cash donations and grants to local non-profit organizations that expand & enhance the civic, educational, and humanitarian private-sector services to the 2,000,000 MVM populations.  This creates a compelling purpose for local shoppers and vendors to use Marketplace to help support/fund local colleges and universities, Chambers of Commerce, Homeless Facilities, and Food Banks.

MVM On-Line Sellers & Shoppers Get Over 30 Features & Functions on Marketplace!

MVM Features & Functions...What MVM Merchants and Shoppers Get...

Special Shopper Bonus Services...Marketplace will offer "PREMIUM-PLUS" to its Online Shoppers that gives Free or Flat-Rate Local Area Parcel Shipping to Customers, Free Subscriptions to Pandora or SiriusXM audio channels, NETFLIX Video Streaming, Shopper REWARDS Bucks, and More! (Some conditions will apply.)  The use of Free Pandora or SiriusXM audio channels to select Customers gives the ability to Produce and Run "Spot Audio Commercials" within the music reels that are 5-10 seconds long to Marketplace Taps/Clicks on "Offers".

MVM offers a full range of Seller Tools & Support Functions paid for out of the moderate Seller Fees.

1. The MVM Marketplace is an Ecommerce-Innovation having up to 20,000 Metro-Area local merchant vendors of all types of goods and services to be On-Line and In-Store sellers to a targeted Metro-Area of over 500,000 to 2,000,000 populations of shoppers.  All of each MVM Vendor's Customers & Names and Contact information and purchasing history are the Shared Property of both the MVM Vendor and The MVM Enterprise Platform.

The MVM Enterprise Platform will not do any Direct Marketing and Selling to any Customers of any MVM Vendors, yet it can be a proprietary-seller of consumer goods and services to MVM Shoppers to enrich and expand the overall goods and services selections/offerings to shoppers.

 2. No Big Corporate Retailers are desired to sell on Marketplace. The 50 Biggest US Chain Store Brands and Online Retailers in the US, now dominate the consumer goods and services marketplace with 55% of all retail sales to US consumers.

It has been extremely difficult for local community merchants to compete and survive with retail chain organizations that are thousands of times larger.  As a Seller on MVM, you are only competing with like-kind Local Merchants that physically reside within the 315 to 1,500 square miles of a Marketplace Area.

3.  Every Marketplace Vendor has Equal Footing in selling to all local Metro shoppers. Local businesses and merchants who have traditionally operated their businesses out of stores, offices, in-homes, and warehousing spaces are continually losing their local market shares in sales to the Big 50.

The MVM Marketplace would offer affordable Agency-Level Fee-Based Digital-Marketing Basic Analytics...SEO, SEM, PPC and KPI Services...Plus more Custom-Level Marketing Support to each of its Member-Sellers.  Being both an In-Store & On-line MVM Seller will dramatically increase a Seller's In-Store & On-line Customer Count...Because the Optimal Use of the "In-Store Live Shopper Experiences (CX) of Your Products-Showcasing drives both the overall count of Hybrid customers, their Stickiness to a Select-Preferred-Seller, and More Repeat-Customers with Growing Average Order Value (AOV).  See Accenture Discussion on Hybrid On-line & In-Store Customer Lifecycle Advisory.

So, Marketplace is designed to give Equality and More Competitive Advantages to Local Merchants and Businesses to survive against Big Retail.

 4. MVM Seller Fees are substantially lower than any other online platform. MWM is both a Directory of All Local Business Types and for all Sellers and Consumers to do transactions between themselves in goods and services online on Marketplace at a very low cost to Sellers.

 5. MVM charges a seller's fee only on online sales.  MVM does NOT take away the flexibility/option of in-store selling by local merchants, and shoppers can do whatever in-store purchases they desire without any Seller Fees to MVM.

6. Free email marketing platform to reach thousands of your customers and prospects. Merchants can do Free email marketing to their customers from the email-handler (Likened to MailChimp or Constant Contact) on MVM to broadcast Sales info, Special Deals, and Attractive Seasonal Items or Services.

The MVM Enterprise Host will operate Machine-Learning across all the MVM Vendor Website Customer Transactions & Shopper Click & Nav Activity.  This archive of Customer History for Each Vendor to have in a data file can use software to formulate Customized Offers to Repeat Vendor's Customers, based upon the historical Shopping & Buying Patterns of each Customer.  Customer-Specific Custom-Offers are vital today to more effectively engage with regular customers.

Sellers can add an embedded URL Link(s) into any Category Names, Product Names, Service Names to auto-direct any shopper who "Clicks a LINK" to go exactly to what you are selling in your online store.

7. A Free MVM Store Website like SHOPIFY which is the Best Choice for Customizations with Add-On APIs & One-on-One Expert Storefront Setup.  Vendor, along with a Student Intern from a local College or University Computer Science Department to design your own storefront Look, Feel, and Functions.

8. A Custom Search Box platform on the vendor's website for your shoppers.  Shoppers can Search products across your website by Hi-Lo or Lo-Hi price ranges, and merchants have their own store’s "Elastic-Search Box" for shoppers to Find any specific item you offer that Matches by “Exact or Imperfect” Shopper's Search Word Terms/String for the item's name.

9. Free ChatBox like ZenDesk on your website store to engage with your shoppers 24/7.  Have your own store’s Free ChatBox for online shoppers to Click to start a real-time questions experience to you with your mobile phone about a product or service they are immediately thinking of buying (Carting).

How do MVM Shoppers Will Find Your Store on Marketplace?

13.  Each vendor can do email marketing independent from the general marketing of the MVM Marketplace to the General Public.  We encourage the use of Free direct email platform communication using a Merchant’s list-of-prospects, and customers throughout the marketing, selling, buying and fulfillment cycle.  (All Vendor store's customers are Private and Confidential to vendors.)

14. We give you Free Email Blast Tools to attract shoppers directly to your store.  MVM also offers tools, such as a Customer-Named Robo-Emailing Platform to send Sale Shoutouts, Promos, Coupons and announce New Product Offerings to Your List of customers & leads.

15.  Shoppers going to MVM use a general Seach Box to Find Items by their name and the list of MVM vendors that offer them.  All Shoppers that go to the Marketplace Home Page to SHOP LOCAL... will use a powerful Seach Box to find products, services and vendors.

A Shopper sees your store’s Home Page (All About You & What you Do), when Shopper-Search’s products & services on the MVM Platform Search Box to find if a select item is sold on Marketplace, and if it is offered, each MVM vendor that offers it is listed in the search results listing merchants that are selling it, which are internal URL links to the Product & Vendor selling it.

The shopper then Clicks through the vendors offering the product...no vendor has a priority location of listing compared to any other vendor.

16.  Shoppers can find vendors of a product by Best-Price & Best-Stars-Rating.  Shoppers can do a Filter Search of this result for: All Merchant Stores Offering the Item, and then Sort Prices of the target item from Hi to Low or Low-Hi., by each store, plus see any store's Reviews & Stars-Rating by TrustPilot.

Communicate with your customers…

17.  Each vendor can put in all the design & work they wish to have a Sizzling Website Storefront.  You are able to customize the look and feel of your site’s Storefront and show pictures of You and Staff.  You can Shine Through in other ways, like how you communicate with customers by Email, Text, and Phone.

18.  What Shows-The-Best will typically Sell-The-Best.  Show Product Pics in staged actual use settings.  And immediately after you conclude a Sale to a Shopper, always set up in your MVM store an Email or Text Auto-Send to them of a Thank You for using your store that includes an embedded URL link, when Clicked/Tapped, will take your customer directly-back-to-your-store-on MVM.

 19.  All vendors have the Best-Tools-of-Engagement to serve their customers well.  Further, always reply to Shoppers & Customers' inquiries promptly and answer questions quickly in an engaging manner via Email, Texting or Phone Call.

20.  No MVM vendor desires or can work their store 24/7/365, but the MVM Rep Team can!  Regarding incoming 24/7 Chat Platform Text Messages, if you are Closed for Business, the System will direct to you any Shopper or Customer questions coming into the MVM Main Rep Desk 24/7/365.  Service Desk Call-Ins about MVM System Level issues such as Carting Questions, Payments, Will-Call Pickups and Local Deliveries...the MVM Host Admin Rep Team can handle.

Optimize the Text of Your Product & Services Listings…

21. MVM Vendors do Not have to be Search Engine Optimization (SEO) experts...Just Know the Basics of SEO.  Local University Ecommerce and CIS student interns will teach you…Best Practices to optimize your products and services listings on your website.

Name and Description Tags MUST Include the right composed descriptive Google Search-Engine Ranked Keywords for your Meta Titles of a Product or Service with 70 characters Max and Meta Descriptions at 160 characters Max

These Meta Title and Description Fields are the Most Important elements that Google reads & records as Google Bots Crawl over millions of websites to document Meta Tags.  This is for instantly Matching a Shopper’s Keywords Search Terms to the Exact Websites and Product Listing thereon, that have the Closest Meta Tag Match/Relevance to the Searcher’s Keywords.

22.  It is "The Story of a Product" that often sells it!  As an MVM Merchant, you will have an additional Long-Description Information box at 400 characters Max to use for composing a statement of how a product or service is used, what is its material and fabrication, etc., and some Sizzle to excite the shopper to buy it Now from YOU!

Use Good Digital Pictures of Products & Services…

23.  Your own personal iPhone can make you an expert in Photo-Shoots for fast & EZ listing online items.  Having high-quality digital pictures will help any item stand out and sell more.

Take your Pics to show different angles of the item, with Good Light and No Shadows on any side of it.  Use a Digital Camera or an iPhone set to at least 1 Meg pixel density so that when an item is Zoomed Up by a shopper, the image does not lose its resolution and look fuzzy.

Fuzzy Low-Resolution at Left                    Sharp High-Meg Resolution at Right

Your Pics can be easily uploaded to your site directly from the storage in your camera or mobile phone via a patch-cord from the device to a USB plug that goes into your PC Admin Platform.

One of the biggest problems with online shopping is that people can’t see or touch products, but sellers can help by showcasing various product views and angles in the photos, and by showing the product in its proper context/usage to have the shopper see an item it in a Reality-Setting.

                         Showing a Product in a Reality-Setting!

Controlling Online Inventory and When to Replenish Stock…

24.  It is universal that all merchants dislike inventory responsibilities, so give it to the MVM System Platform.  MVM merchant website software will manage inventory automatically.

When you upload a new product, you enter in the number of units for your inventory-start, and as you sell units of it, the software keeps reducing the inventory units amount.  You set a Minimum Safety Stock Units Number in a Config Setting, and when goods are sold down to that safety stock number, you get a notification to buy more from your supplier.

Also, you have the option, that if at any time your inventory for a specific item gets sold out quickly, the site will/can display a Notice to the Shopper looking at the item that it is “Out Of Stock”, but if they purchase it anyways, the screen note can state “Shipping in 5-10 Days”!

Merchant’s Terms & Conditions on Customer Purchases…

25.  If you can't state all your Terms & Conditions in one page, shoppers will not easily understand How/If they want to do business with you.  Every merchant seller has their own unique Terms and Conditions that you will want to describe in about One-Page or Less of text.

This covers Returns & Exchanges, Customer Data Privacy Policy, How the Shipping from Seller to Customer Functions, and if you are warrantying/guaranteeing goods sold.

26.  Having a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee on your goods sold, is great for New Business to Keep Customers and Get New Customers.  You can Win Customers for Life or Lose a Customer for Life because of your Guarantee Policy.

If what you are selling should have a relatively long useful life, and it is not a consumable good…consider giving a Lifetime No Questions Asked Guarantee of a Full 100% purchase price refund or product replacement.

Statistically, only about 2% of goods sold go-bad and the buyer wants their money back.  If you state a 100% Lifetime Guarantee for the item, and 1 out of 50 items are presented back to you by a customer…Give a full Refund or Offer a Like-Kind Free Replacement for the item, and you pay the shipping, and tell the customer to just discard the un-fit item.

When an online merchant does this, it is "Like Gold", and you will get 5-STARS Reviews and Ratings TrustPilot that over 85% of online shoppers look at before their "First-Buy from a New Merchant".

We have done this on our websites for 5 years, and we/re delighted whenever we get the opportunity to Refund or Exchange to a new Replacement Item…These shoppers will tell 5-10 friends how great you are, and that really brings to you many new customers.

Further, We will include a selection of Share-Function-Icons on Each Product Page and on other key pages, for Vendors to Select & Direct page contents to anyone you wish via a number of communications options.

How will my MVM website store Appear on all types of shopping communications devices…

27.  Don't You Hate It, when you are viewing a Website on your mobile phone and its Appearance is all Discombobulated? Not on MVM!  Every merchant’s website store is designed and projected digitally in what is called “Responsive Mode”.

All-Devices Responsive Display Mode

That means that the MVM platform, through which all online shopping flows through to your store, Senses the Type Of Device the Shopper is using via its IP address, and then instantly Re-Sizes, Re-Formats and Presents your store’s images in Exactly the Best Viewing for the Shopper to “Love What They Are Seeing”.

And, when a shopper is using a rectangle iPhone to look at your store and rotates the device 90 degrees for a Wider-View, then website software Re-Composes the Store’s View to enhance the viewing for horizontal viewing…Very Neat!

How are Items Carted and Checked Out with online purchases?

28. Online Shoppers can buy Multiple-Items from Multiple-Merchants with One-Cart & One-Payment Checkout.  MVM shoppers can do purchases all across Marketplace as if in a Virtual Mall...Which in fact they are In!  Shoppers Browse and Buy all over the Marketplace purchasing items Here & There at varying online MVM stores and tag them all to one checkout cart.  And, any shopper, if they wish, can do added individual online buying sessions the same-day with other MVM vendors.

Their Cart stays OPEN 24-hours...Midnight-to-Midnight any day.  At any time during their 24-hour shopping session, and they want to Checkout, Great, they make just One Payment for the entire amount of the goods in their Cart.  When the Shopper does the final Checkout oof His/Her Cart, the Single or Multi-Vendor order will be assigned a Master Order ID and each item(s) in the order will be a subset of the Master Order ID (Example – Master Order ID Bar Code - #12347 – two products ordered 12347-1 and 12347-2).

The MVM System receives the total payment, and then allocates it to individual vendor bank account deposits to each vendor on the day that the electronic payment by the shopper clears through Merchant Processing.  Seller Fees are deducted from each Vendor's invoiced sale amount.

How are Customers Purchases Shipped to them to Anywhere Within the Square Miles Area of Marketplace?

29.  MVM Merchants can be as good as or possibly better than AMAZON and Wal-Mart on local shipping fulfillment.  MVM is a "Direct To Consumer" Online and In-Store Hybrid Merchant Selling Model.

There are options that offer "Free Shipping to Customers" if a minimum Carted-Goods-Order involving one or more merchants is in excess of a certain gross dollar amount for all items in the MVM Checkout Shopping Cart, to be delivered to a Single Local Street Address.

Further, Vendors can utilize a "Drop-Shipping Option" for a Shopper purchasing a large or heavy item, or an item that the Vendor needs to "Special Order for a Customer", that would eliminate the added step of a Vendor directly receiving a Customer's Special item, and then having to re- deliver it locally to the end-Customer.

30.  As a Local Merchant, for you to Survive and Grow Sales, you should be an MVM Selling Member that can offer Next-Day or Next-Next Day Goods Deliveries to your local customers all across the square miles area of MVM Marketplace...Similar to how AMAZON, Wal-Mart, and the 48 other Big Online Chains do their local-area customer deliveries.

MVM Merchants get Local Carrier Customer Order Parcel Pickups from Our Merchants to the Flex-Spaces Facility for Local Deliveries.  Our process is to employ local parcel delivery carriers that work within an "MVM Fulfillment Hub Process", whereby carriers Pickup packaged customer orders from each Seller/Merchant on Transaction-Day or Day-After via a computer-generated "Parcel Pickups Manifest".

As each parcel is Picked Up for Next-Day or Next-Next-Day local delivery to customers within the square miles delivery area, the MVM System Generates & Sends Out a Text or Email Notification to the Customer that their order is "In-Shipping."

Carrier(s) take all collected items to a "Local Sorting HUB", where all orders are sorted to 5-10 different local delivery zones within the MVM area.  Local Carriers then receive Zone-Location-Batched Customer Orders for "Last-Mile Delivery".

The carrier for each of the 5-10 local delivery zones is given parcels and an MVM computer-generated digital "Delivery Manifest" that IDs each customer for "Doorstep Delivery" with GPS Guided Routing for one or more items to a "single local customer address".

As a Carrier leaves the Sorting HUB with parcels, a second Text or Email Notification is sent to each customer that their orders are "Out-For-Delivery".
